Festivals, Fairs, and Other Events

Annual Taste of Downtown
Come taste dozens of world-renowned local wines, microbrews, brandies, root beer, and more in the shops of Ukiah’s downtown merchants. Live music fills the streets and hors d’euvres are served to accompany the wine tasting. The event is held on a Friday night in June.

All American Fourth of July Picnic in the Park
A family picnic runs from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Todd Grove Park. The fun for the day includes entertainment, food booths, free kids activities, arts, crafts, games, races, contests, concerts, and swimming at the public pool.

Cinco de Mayo
All day festival on the Sunday of the week of May 5th, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The festival includes singing, dancing, food and drink, activities for kids, and arts and crafts.

Comedy Alley
Enjoy three professional stand-up comedians live from the Bay Area and Hollywood on the third Saturday of each month from January through May.

Fabulous Flashback Car Show
Held in September, the car show is a weekend long event starting with the Parking Lot Dance on Friday night. On Saturday, School Street is blocked off and filled with classic cars, vendors, and fun. Sunday ends the weekend with a Wine Country Poker Run.

Family-Life Expo and Home Show
Held in the spring, this is a weekend-long event with over 150 exhibitors and free admission. There are two stages where local talent performs. Activities create fun for the entire family.

First Friday Art Walk
On the first Friday of each month, stroll along downtown Ukiah and enjoy local artists, musicians, food and drink.

Granite Construction Chili Cook Off
Cook your favorite chili recipe and compete for the best chili in town. All benefits go to support local charities. This popular event is held in downtown Ukiah, on a September evening.

Holiday Preview
To start off shopping for the holidays, the Ukiah Main Street Program hosts the Holiday Preview. Downtown shops are open complete with caroling, decorations, and edible holiday treats.

Holiday Trolley
From the day after Thanksgiving until the day after Christmas, enjoy riding the trolley around Ukiah. The ride is FREE and fun for the whole family.

Mendocino Crab and Wine Days
From late January through early February, you can enjoy events such as winemakers dinners, cooking classes, crab cruises, crabbing demonstrations, crab feeds, and winery passports for the county-wide “Crab Crawl.”

Mendocino Wine and Mushroom Festival
This is a series of events held throughout Mendocino County and running through the month of November. Events include wine and beer pairing workshops, guided mushroom walks, featured mushroom dinners at various restaurants and gatherings, as well as musical performances, and special exhibits.

Moonlight Movie Madness
A series of six summertime Friday night movies projected onto an outdoor screen set up at the Alex Thomas Plaza. Local non-profits sell various foods and drinks.

Redwood Empire Fair
Held the second weekend in August, at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds in Ukiah, the fair features a carnival, concerts, wheeled events, agricultural and livestock events, food and drink, and much more.

Small Town Christmas
Bring your children to see Santa as he rides around town to all of the shopping centers on his fire truck. Also have fun listening to the musical program at the Alex Thomas Plaza, followed by the Trucker’s Light Parade.

Sundays in the Park
Free concert series featuring a variety of musical styles, held at the Ukiah Todd Grove Park on various Sunday evenings throughout the summer.

Ukiah Country Pumpkinfest
This two-day event is fun for the whole family. Held in the month of October, events include a pumpkin weigh-off, kids’ carnival, arts and crafts fair, fiddle contest, scarecrow city, continuous live music, and more.

Ukiah Farmers’ Market
Held on Saturday mornings and Tuesday evenings, shop for locally grown, certified organic fruits, vegetables, cheeses, honey, eggs, jam, flowers, spices, and more. You can also enjoy local artists and live music.

Ukiah Players Theatre
The theatre performs a wide variety of plays, from classic to contemporary, as well as original pieces. The theatre is a nonprofit organization with professional management and features local talent of all ages.

Ukiah Speedway
Located at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds, in Ukiah, the Ukiah Speedway offers multi-event car races on Saturday nights and motocross events on Sundays. The race season runs from March until November.

Ukiah Triathlon
Hosted by the South Ukiah Rotary on the Sunday following Labor Day, the triathlon includes a half-mile open water swim in Lake Mendocino, then a 21.7 mile bike ride, and ends with a three-mile run course at Mendocino College.

Other Activities Include:
Come enjoy local outdoor activities including parks, golf, swimming, tennis, bicycling, hiking, horseback riding, water skiing, fishing (streams, rivers, ponds, lake, and ocean), wild game hunting, and cross-country snow skiing. Local casinos provide indoor fun.
