Redwood Valley, CA Information
|
Redwood Valley fills the northern end of the Ukiah Valley, just about eight miles north of Ukiah and 15 miles south of the city of Willits. With a population of approximately 6,000, Redwood Valley offers genuine country living with the conveniences of Ukiah close at hand.
Redwood Valley’s back roads are dotted with several wineries, mostly family-owned. Redwood Valley celebrates its local vintners annually at the Taste of Redwood Valley three-day event during the Father’s Day weekend, as well as a wine tasting/sales event and Holiday Juried Artisan Faire in November.
Part and parcel of rural community life is volunteer-based fire fighting. For over 50 years the annual Redwood Valley Calpella Volunteer Fire Department Beef Barbeque has brought the community together for a family-friendly fun event.
Redwood Valley has its own public Elementary and Junior High Schools, with Ukiah providing public High School. Students from throughout the Ukiah Valley also attend Deep Valley Christian School in Redwood Valley, which offers grades K-12.
The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians descend from the Ukiah Valley’s Shodakai Pomo. The Band has a 70-acre reservation in Redwood Valley, which includes the Coyote Valley Shodakai Casino. The Casino, aside from gambling enterprises, offers food and entertainment, as well as maintaining an active role in the Ukiah Valley and supporting youth sports.
Homes for sale in Redwood Valley run the gambit from older to newer custom-built homes and half-acre lots to ranches and vineyard estates; however, when it comes to horse and animal lovers, Redwood Valley is a very popular location!
